Uganda’s leading coffee exporters

Mbale Arabica Coffee Roasters was founded in 2016 by sons of Bugisu and Ankole coffee farming families in south western Uganda.

They grew up seeing their families working hard yet selling their coffee parchment to the local cooperatives for modest prices.

Their sons' vision was to add value to the crop to increase revenue for the farmers and deliver a higher quality product.

Today, Mbale's objective is to buy, process, roast, package, market, and sell pure Arabica coffee in national, regional, and international markets.

We aim to become a lead exporter of specialty coffee in Africa.

We have signed an agreement with NUCAFE (National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises) in Uganda to process its coffee, and with MAURIK to roast and pack their coffee.

Good agricultural practices & community focus

Most of our Bugisu Arabica coffee is grown organically, under shade trees, and intercropped with bananas. These provide additional natural shade.

We work hard to teach good agricultural practices all the way from nursery to harvesting of the ripe red cherries.

We're proud that Mbale's coffee farmers have significantly improved their livelihoods from growing and selling our specialty Bugisu coffee. The local community has been able to plant trees, pay school fees and medical expenses, and build quality homes.
